Planning a Wedding in Hermann

Hermann, MO sits on the south bank of the Missouri River in the heart of Missouri wine country, about 80 miles west of St. Louis. German settlers founded the town in 1837, and its hillside wineries and river bluffs make a beautiful backdrop for a wedding weekend.

Mark Mattei, co-owner of MEM Films, spent many weekends in Hermann during high school and college, and we put this guide together to help couples compare the venues in and around town. Each listing covers the spaces a venue offers and how many guests it holds.

We checked these details against each venue’s website and Visit Hermann in November 2026. Spaces and policies can change, so confirm the details with the venue before you book.

German-style stone barn

The Stone Barn at Hermann Farm opened in November 2021, which makes it one of the newest event spaces in Hermann. The 12,000-square-foot barn was built in the German barn style from three 18th-century Pennsylvania barns, with 55-foot hemlock posts and limestone walls two feet thick.

The barn sits on Hermann Farm, a historic farm in town, and it is home to the farm's Shire draft horses. Visit Hermann lists it on the Hermann Wedding Trail with room for about 100 guests, which makes it a good fit for a mid-size reception.

The farm's website focuses on its history and public events, so contact Hermann Farm directly to ask about wedding dates and what the space includes.

Getting There

Planning Your Wedding Video in Hermann

Sunset on the Bluffs: Bluff venues look out over the river valley, so we recommend building 20 to 30 minutes of golden-hour portraits into your timeline.

Drone Footage: Our wedding package includes aerial drone footage, and we check each venue's drone policy well before your wedding day.

Cellar and Barn Lighting: Stone cellars and barns are darker than they look in person, so let us know where your toasts and first dance will happen and we will plan for the light.

Travel Between Venues: If your ceremony and reception are at different places, such as a church ceremony followed by a winery reception, leave time in your schedule so we can film your arrival at both.
